UMSU Sweeps First Place at the 2026 North Sumatra Outstanding Student Competition
Two students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara achieved an outstanding accomplishment by winning first place in the 2026 Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres) at the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) Region I of North Sumatra for both Diploma and Undergraduate categories.
The 2026 Pilmapres competition was organized by LLDIKTI Region I North Sumatra from April 28 to 30, 2026, with Universitas Prima Indonesia serving as the host in Medan. The prestigious competition brought together hundreds of students from public and private universities across North Sumatra.
In the competition, Tiara Ramadani from the Tax Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, won First Place in the Diploma category. Meanwhile, Imtiyaz Alnatanisa from the Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, secured First Place in the Undergraduate category.
UMSU Rector Akrim expressed his pride and appreciation for the students’ achievements. He hopes this accomplishment will inspire other students to continue developing their potential and striving for excellence.
“We are proud and deeply appreciative of the success achieved by UMSU students in this Pilmapres competition. Hopefully, this accomplishment will inspire other students to continue excelling,” said Prof. Akrim.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the UMSU Board of Trustees Agussani admitted he was deeply moved by the achievement, especially as UMSU once again successfully maintained its First Place title in Pilmapres. According to him, this achievement proves that the continuous student development program initiated several years ago has produced consistent results.
“This achievement demonstrates that the continuous development efforts started several years ago have resulted in consistent accomplishments. We are certainly very proud and touched that UMSU students have once again maintained the First Place title in Pilmapres,” said Prof. Agussani.
Following their victory, both UMSU Pilmapres champions will undergo further training and intensive mentoring in preparation for the national-level Pilmapres competition organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. The coaching program will be conducted by the Student Affairs Bureau in collaboration with the Student Research and Creativity Center (SRCC) of UMSU.
Head of SRCC UMSU Fatimah Sari Siregar stated that both Imtiyaz and Tiara have excellent potential. She explained that the next stage of mentoring will focus on strengthening their outstanding achievements and refining several technical aspects to better prepare them for the national competition.
“In terms of potential, Imtiyaz and Tiara are excellent. They only need to further enhance their achievements and improve several technical aspects to be more prepared for the national-level Pilmapres competition,” said Dr. Fatimah.
