Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) and Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) are committed to collaborating in developing higher education, including teaching, research, and community service.
UMSU Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, told the media Sunday (23/1) that the collaboration between UMSU and UIR is a strategic momentum to further improve the quality of education in each university. For this reason, the cooperation agreement can be followed up with program implementation.
“This cooperation agreement certainly does not stop at signing the MoU text, but it should be followed up immediately in the form of programs and concrete actions with collaborative field activities,” he said.
The Rector explained that UMSU and UIR have resources that can strengthen each other in developing improvement programs in teaching, research, and community service. In addition, through collaboration, each university can collaborate with each other in the utilization of facilities and human resources. “As Islamic universities, we can also cooperate with each other in Islamic da’wah,” he said.
Furthermore, the collaboration between UMSU and UIR can be a momentum to learn from each other and gain experience. “Moreover, UIR has extensive experience collaborating with many universities, not only in Asia but also in Europe. Of course, UMSU needs to learn a lot,” said Agussani, adding, ” I hope that the signing of this MoU will not only be on paper but will continue so that the two universities are more advanced.
“I hope the Vice-Rector, Postgraduate Leaders, and Study Programs can continue the cooperation that has been established,”” explained the Rector.
Meanwhile, UIR’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Syafrinaldi, SH, MCL, appreciates the achievements of UMSU, which continues to progress. “We give appreciation to the Rector of UMSU, Prof. Agussani. UMSU has been familiar to me since the establishment of the Postgraduate Law. We learned from UMSU that the Rector and staff are certainly not stingy in providing knowledge so that UIR can be more advanced,” he said.
UMSU is one of the partners expected to support the achievement of UIR so that not only collaborate but the Rector of UIR is also committed to being ready to help expand cooperation between Germany and UMSU in the future.
Previously, this cooperation commitment was marked by the signing of the MoU text, which was held at the UMSU Auditorium, Jl. Kapten Muchtar Basri No. 3 Medan, Saturday (22/1). Also present were the General Chairperson of the Islamic Education Institute Foundation, Dr. Nurman, M.Si, Director of the Postgraduate Program at UIR, Dr. Yusri Munaf, SH, M.Hum, Head of UIR Doctoral Law Study Program, Dr. Hj.
