The Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara will inaugurate four female professors on Saturday (23/12) at the Jalan Kapten Mukhtar Basri Campus, Medan.
The four female lecturers who will be inaugurated are Prof. Dr. Ida Hanifah, S.H., M.H Lecturer in the Doctor of Law Program (Professor of Law Science), Prof. Dr. Ir. Hj. R. Sabrina, M.Si Lecturer in Master of Management (Professor of Management Science), Prof. Dr. Emilda Sulasmi, S.Pd., M.Pd Lecturer of Master Program in Higher Education Management (Professor of Education Management Science) and Prof. Dr. Siti Mujiatun, S.E., M.M Lecturer of S1 Management (Professor of Management Science),
“God willing, the event can run smoothly, and currently, the committee is making various preparations and the plan is to be attended directly by the Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Prof. Dr. H. Haedar Nashir, M.Si. and General Secretary, Prof. Dr. H. Abdul Mu’ti, M.Ed,” said UMSU Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP in Medan, Monday (11/12). Also accompanying the Vice Rector I, Prof.Dr.Muhammad Arifin, MHum, Vice-Rector II, Prof.Dr.Akrim, MPd, Vice-Rector III, Dr.Rudianto, MSi.
According to the Rector, the inauguration of the professorship this time was special because it was attended by four people at once, and all of them were female lecturers. This proves gender equality while female lecturers have the same abilities and opportunities in pursuing a career.
Furthermore, UMSU continues to encourage lecturers to be able to achieve the highest position as a professor. This is in line with the demands of being a superior accredited campus.
“UMSU continues to strive to motivate lecturers with various programs, including the provision of research funds and assistance in the form of incentives for the publication of Scopus-indexed national and international accredited scientific journals,” he explained.
While Vice-Rector II, Prof. Dr. Akrim, MPd, added that UMSU also made a policy to provide exceptional services to lecturers in taking care of rank administration by forming the Lecturer Functional Position Acceleration Team. “This team works to help analyze and provide advice and input to lecturers who apply for an increase in functional position,” he said.
In addition, UMSU also provides special allowances to lecturers who reach the rank of head lecturer and professor. This special allowance is given to lecturers outside the government’s certification allowance.
To strengthen lecturers in meeting the requirements for rank, UMSU also provides special training to lecturers in research and writing scientific journals.
