Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) received 13 awards at the 2025 Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) Reporting Awards for private universities under Lembaga Layanan Pendidikan Tinggi Wilayah I Sumatera Utara (LLDikti Region I North Sumatra). The ceremony was held at Hotel Le Polonia, Tuesday (January 27).
Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arifin, M.Hum., expressed appreciation for the achievement, emphasizing that it was the result of strong collective collaboration among UMSU’s leadership and institutional units.
“What we have achieved today is a set of accomplishments that we must value and build upon so that our current success can lead to even greater achievements in the future. Hopefully, we can continue to improve,” he stated.
He added that the achievement marks meaningful progress, but it is not the end of the journey—rather, it is the starting point for facing future challenges.
“I believe this initiative is highly commendable, and we should also appreciate LLDikti for organizing it,” he said.
Previously, UMSU successfully maintained its position as the overall champion in the Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) of the Best Private Universities by LLDikti North Sumatra for three consecutive years (2019–2024).
The Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) is designed to maintain and continuously enhance the quality of private higher education institutions. It is implemented internally to achieve the university’s vision and mission while meeting the needs of stakeholders.
Meanwhile, the Head of LLDikti Region I North Sumatra, Prof. Dr. Saiful Anwar Matondang, announced that an International Cooperation Award will be introduced in the future, noting that several universities, including UMSU, have made significant progress in global collaboration.
“We will continue to encourage and motivate institutions to strengthen international partnerships,” he said.
