Indonesian Consul General Davao City, Philippines Appreciates International KKN of FKIP UMSU Students
The Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia Davao City, Philippines, expressed his appreciation to 4 FKIP UMSU students who were accompanied by the Head of the Counseling Guidance Study Program, M. Fauzi Hasibuan, M.Pd, in the closing activity of the International KKN, Friday (27/9) at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia Davao City, Philippines.
At the end of the International KKN activity, the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia Davao City, Dr. Achmad Djatmiko, M.A., said that the presence of FKIP UMSU students while carrying out the International KKN program had a very positive impact on improving the quality of education in Davao Indonesian schools.
“The activities carried out by these students align with our vision and mission as representatives of Indonesia in Davao City in the field of education. In just one month, UMSU students made many changes to the development of students in schools,” said the Consul General.
He also saw students’ fighting power, which showed that UMSU had matured in preparing its students for community service. The Consul General of R.I. Davao City, Dr. Achmad, hopes that the program that has been established continues this year. However, the International KKN program can continue faithfully every year.
“We hope that UMSU can also assist our students who will continue their higher education studies in the form of scholarships because we believe that UMSU is one of the best campuses in Indonesia, which is the choice of our students in Indonesia,” said Dr. Achmad.
Then, the Principal of Indonesian Davao City School, Daulat Siregar, M.Pd., M.Si, also expressed his gratitude for the cooperation that had been established. He admitted that he was greatly helped by the presence of USMU FETT students in his school, especially students from the Counseling Guidance and PGSD study programs.
“Students can conduct need assessment to find out or map the needs of our students in the fields of personal, social, learning, and future careers. The presence of umsu students can also encourage our students to improve the quality of their learning and continue their studies at universities in Indonesia,” said the Principal.
Meanwhile, the Head of the BK FKIP UMSU study program, M Fauzi Hasibuan, M.Pd, representing UMSU, expressed his gratitude because the Indonesian Consul General had given trust and facilities to students during the International KKN. The student representative, Anna Ritonga, conveyed the same thing. During the KKN, she gained much knowledge ranging from recognizing the characteristics of students, seeing the teaching given by teachers in the classroom, practicing teaching in the classroom, assisting students’ extracurricular activities, developing student potential, teaching children to write and read Indonesia, increasing the creativity of talented students, collaborating in doing learning projects to providing information on issues in prevention efforts.
“The experiences we gained will equip us as future teachers. We are pleased to be able to practice at the Indonesian school in Davao,” Anna said.
This activity was welcomed directly by the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia – Davao City, Philippines, Dr. Achmad Djatmiko, M.A., Social and Cultural Affairs Officer, Umi Yanti Febriana Silalahi, along with Non-Diplomatic Staff, and representatives of the Indonesian School Davao City Principal, Rinto Suhartono, S.Pd., as the vice principal for facilities and infrastructure at the Consulate General’s Meeting Room in Davao City.
