“Universities that will survive are universities with strong networks at home and abroad,” said Prof. Arifin.
On that basis, said Prof. Arifin, as a leading private university in North Sumatra, UMSU continues to build and develop cooperation with various stakeholders, starting from the regional, national, and international levels.
“At the regional level, one of the stakeholders who are UMSU’s cooperation partners is the Regional Government. Therefore, today, we are pleased to be able to establish friendship and build cooperation with the South Sumatra Regency Government,” said Prof. Arifin.
Prof. Arifin thanked the Regent of South Sumatra for being pleased to build cooperation with UMSU.
“Of course, this is an honor and a good opportunity to work together to provide benefits to UMSU and the South Sumatra Regency Government. We are optimistic that with this cooperation, the two institutions will mutually benefit from public legitimacy because they carry out tasks and functions oriented towards community development and empowerment,” he said.
Prof. Arifin further explained that the cooperation between UMSU and the Tapsel Regency Government is related to implementing the tridarma of higher education, especially in research and community service.
“Through this collaboration, we hope that the South Sumatra Regency Government will get an academic and scientific basis for the development it carries out, while universities will get a more grounded value of the tridarma of higher education in line with the concept of the Merdeka Campus,” said Prof. Arifin.
Finally, Prof Arifin hopes that this collaboration will not only stop on paper but needs to be implemented and followed up in concrete programs that benefit both parties.
“We hope that this collaboration is not just on paper but can be followed up with real action based on the principle of mutual symbolism,” Prof. Arifin said.
Meanwhile, Tapsel Regent Dolly Putra Parlindungan Pasaribu SPt MM welcomed the signing of the MoU between the Tapsel Regency Government and UMSU.
