The Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership of Medan City held a Syawal 1445 H gathering and a grand recitation with PP Muhammadiyah at the UMSU Postgraduate campus on Jl Denai Medan, Sunday (5/5).
The recitation was filled by ustadz Prof. H. Hilman Latief, M.A., Ph.D as General Treasurer of PP Muhammadiyah and also attended by UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, Vice Rector III Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, Vice Rector II Prof. Dr. Akrim, MPd as well as the Treasurer of PDM Medan City.
Also present were the Chairman of PWM North Sumatra Prof. Dr. Hasyimsyah Nasution, MA; Chairperson of Aisyiyah North Sumatra Dr. Nur Rahmah Amini, M.Ag; Chairman of PDM Medan City Maulana Siregar; Chairman of MUI Medan City, elements from government institutions and ortom Muhammadiyah.
The grand gathering was enlivened by 1,300 worshipers who came from Muhammadiyah branches and ranting throughout Medan City. The event was also marked by the handover of waqf land certificates on behalf of Rosmawati, Ricky Helfrandi, and Edy Sabrani to PDM Medan Chairman Maulana Siregar. The land certificates given consisted of 3 SHM no 90 91 and 92 with a total area of 7.8 ha in the form of oil palm land.
In his tausiyah message, ustadz Hilman Latief began by expressing his pride in Muhammadiyah North Sumatra and UMSU for being chosen as the host of the upcoming 2027 Congress.
After he expressed his pride, the Director General of Hajj and Umrah of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion reminded the people of the Association about one of the messages of the 2022 Surakarta Congress, namely the vision of a progressive Islamic treatise.
According to Hilman Lathief, Muhammadiyah reaffirmed this vision because it is very important and becomes the basis for moving the Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah organizations. In addition, it mobilizes Ortom, schools, hospitals, universities and other business charities.
Hilman Lathief said, the treatise of progressive Islam is to place Islam and the Muhammadiyah movement as a da’wah movement that always calls for social, political, economic and religious goodness. And of course we try to avoid evil at any level in various fields.
“This (the message of progressive Islam-ed) must not be lost, whatever our position and position. Whether as a leader or as a leader of charities and organizations, As a member too,” he said.
Then, Muhammadiyah as a tajdid movement and renewal movement. A movement that always seeks solutions to various problems that arise in new ways, so that the teachings of Islam are in accordance with the social and economic needs of humans and the environment.
The view of tajdid, continued Hilman Latief, is to see things always forward and forward, not backward. For this reason, new interpretations must be issued, and religious methods must be adapted to meet existing needs.
Hilman Latief said that the tajdid movement was not easy, but KH Ahmad Dahlan had done it with various problems.
In connection with the tajdid movement, Hilman Latief said he was proud that UMSU and Muhammadiyah North Sumatra had an Observatory of Falak Science. He said it was an extraordinary step and became the center of religious and scientific enlightenment in North Sumatra.
Previously, UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, in his remarks, said that the Syawal gathering, which was held for two consecutive days at UMSU, was a form of commitment and synergy between the Association and business charities. The Rector invites members of the Association to continue supporting the progress of business charities to realize the da’wah and tajdid movements in North Sumatra. The Rector thanked the Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Dr. H. M. Saad Ibrahim, M.A and the General Treasurer of PP Muhammadiyah for attending the Syawal gathering and reviewing the location of the Congress in Deliserdang, North Sumatra.
The Chairman of PDM Medan City, Maulana Siregar, expressed his pride that the Syawal gathering could be attended by elements from PP Muhammadiyah and members of the Association in Medan city. The Syawal gathering was coupled with the release of prospective pilgrims from the members of the Association, which was marked by the wearing of pins and signs of Calhaj Muhammadiyah by PP Muhammadiyah, Chairman of PWM, Chairman of Aisyiyah, Chairman of PDM Medan city and Rector of UMSU.
