Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) and the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday, (26/1) in the meeting room of UMSU Rector Building, Jalan Mukhtar Basri, Medan.
The signing of the cooperation was carried out to build collaboration between the two institutions, namely to support the implementation of public services and to realize the Tri Dharma activities of higher education, including the program of independent campus by independent learning activities.
The signing of the MoU was carried out between the Rector of UMSU, Prof. Dr. Agussani, M.AP with the Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman, Mokhammad Najih, SH, M. Hum., Ph.D. Then continued the signing of the PKS/MoA by the Dean of faculty of social and political sciences, Dr. Arifin Saleh, MSP, with the North Sumatra Ombudsman Representative, Abyadi Siregar.
This memorandum of Understanding includes activities to accelerate the settlement of complaints/community reports, prevent maladministration, supervise the implementation of public services, and implement the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
In addition, the chairman and representatives of the Ombudsman who were present included the Head of the Investigation Assistant, James Marihot, the Head of the Prevention Assistant, Edward Silaban, the Chief Sespri, Wahyu Bening, and the Head of the Facilities Division, Syahrul Bayan.
From UMSU, Vice Rector I Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arifin Gultom, Vice Rector III Dr. Rudianto, Deputy Dean I of faculty of social and political sciences Abrar Adhani, M.IKom, Deputy Dean III Yurisna Tanjung, MAP, Chair and Secretary of the Public Administration Study Program Ananda Mahardika, MSP and Jehan Ridho, M.Si, Chair and Secretary of the Social Welfare Study Program Mujahiddin MSP and Sahran Sahputra, M.Si, Chair and Secretary of the Communication Studies Study Program Akhyar Anshori, M. IKom, and Faizal Hamzah Lubis, M.IKom.
UMSU’s Rector, Prof. Agussani, in his speech, stated that this activity is a form of synergy and collaboration to raise the two institutions together. Concerning the program of independent campus by independent learning activities., this collaboration will be very beneficial.
Previously, the Dean of faculty of social and political sciences, Dr. Arifin Saleh, in the report conveyed several scopes of cooperation, namely the implementation of the Internship Program for students, the performance of public service studies, and improving the quality of supervision of the implementation of public services.
“This collaboration aims to support the activities of the two institutions and is part of the commitment to improve the quality standards of public services and the competence of university graduates,” he explained.
“UMSU continues to participate in supporting the program of independent campus by independent learning activities. Two thousand of our students have participated in this program and are currently participating in this program. This MoU with the Indonesian Ombudsman will support various activities of the two institutions,” said Agussani.
In his speech, the Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman, Mokhammad Najih, Ph.D., said that this collaboration with UMSU and the faculty of social and political sciences opened up space for the program of independent campus by independent learning activities. In addition, the Ombudsman accepts students for internships to improve their quality and capacity.
In addition, collaborative research can also be carried out with themes such as strengthening supervision and public services.”Through an internship at the Ombudsman, students can gain hard and soft skills in the form of experience and ability in management and service. The principle of this cooperation is mutualism symbiosis; both are beneficial,” he said.
