The Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra held its 67th anniversary with a run and walk followed by thousands of participants and international students. The activity was held in the courtyard of the UMSU Campus, Jalan Kapten M Basri, Medan, on Sunday (25/2).
Participants were released directly by the North Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General. Agung Setya Imam Efendi along with UMSU Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, Chairman of Muhammadiyah North Sumatra Regional Leadership, Prof. Hasyimsyah Nasution, MA, and Member of the House of Representatives Commission X, Prof. Dr. Ir. Djohar Arifin Husin.
The run and walk event was also enlivened with hundreds of lucky draw prizes given to lucky participants. Prizes and medals were given to the 20 fastest 5k runners and mini score and badminton competition winners.
North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Pol Agung, who also released the participants, congratulated UMSU on its anniversary. He appreciated this activity as an extraordinary event.
“I think this is an extraordinary event in ensuring that human resources are important. UMSU takes part in developing quality human resources,” said Inspector General of Police.
Then, the UMSU Rector, before releasing the participants, said this activity was one of a series in the framework of the 67th UMSU anniversary.
“In the framework of UMSU’s 67th anniversary, as usual, we carry out several activities, one of which is with the community carrying out a leisurely walk and run family,” said Prof. Agussani.
Meanwhile, PWM Prof. Hasyimsyah Nasution, MA, also said that sports activities are an integral part of everyday life and a happy expression of UMSU’s 67th anniversary.
UMSU International Students from several countries participated in this activity. Among them are Yemen, Thailand, and Cambodia.
“Alhamdulillah, I am thrilled to participate in the run at UMSU,” said Rosyid, a student from Cambodia.
Apart from the run and leisurely walk, the series of events will continue with a mild reception and breaking the muri record for scientific oration by most lecturers at UMSU on Tuesday, March 27, 2024.
