UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, welcomed the visit of 135 Kwalamadu Islamic boarding school students on Saturday (24/2) at the UMSU Auditorium on Jalan Muchtar Basri No.3 Medan.
The students, accompanied by their mudir H. Ramdani Lc and Madrasah Aliyah Leader Pujiono, as well as teachers, ustadz, ustadzah, and musyrif, were not only at UMSU but also visited the Falak Science Observatory (OIF) located at the Postgraduate Program on Jalan Denai.
The visit was filled with creative performances by the Suara UMSU Band and displays from students, such as saman dance, chain rhymes, and stand comedy.
Standup Comedy from one of the students, Maulianda Andika, on the topic of studying at UMSU.
“So there is a friend of mine who wants to major in engineering but enter midwifery then. I said that if you study at UMSU, you will not get the wrong major; you will be directed on how to do it,” said Maulianda, greeted by laughter from the participants.
The comedy, wrapped in rhymes and humor, succeeded in attracting the attention of the UMSU Rector. So, Maulianda received a scholarship to study at UMSU.
“I think we must appreciate this creativity; you want to be able to go to college, of course, there are conditions. If you want to get a scholarship to study at UMSU later, you must become an example for other students,” said the Rector, then asked the Head of the Student Affairs Bureau to provide a scholarship for one year.
Furthermore, Mudir Ponpes Kwalamadu, H. Ramdani Lc, on this occasion, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome of the Rector and his staff in receiving this visit.
“Special thanks to the Rector’s father because we feel privileged. I see that the Rector of UMSU, from the heart, accompanies the pesantren, “said H. Ramadani.
Then, he conveyed the progress of the boarding school, which has been assisted by UMSU since 2020. The condition of the pesantren for four years has improved in terms of facilities and the quality of learning and teaching. He hopes that UMSU will continue to assist the pesantren.
Responding to this, the UMSU Rector was pleased because the pesantren had been accredited A with thousands of students.
“I am very impressed because until now, the achievements of the kalamata pesantren under the Muhammadiyah association are very proud,” said Prof. Agussani.
The Rector of UMSU also said that he would continue to provide support by facilitating pesantren human resources by providing opportunities to take part in master’s programs to the doctoral level.
