Johns Hopkins University, United States, one of the world’s leading universities, visited the Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra (UMSU) regarding education and research collaboration Monday (27/2) in the UMSU VIP room Jl. Muchtar Basri No. 3 Medan.
UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, represented by UMSU Vice Rector 1 Prof. Dr. Arifin Gultom, M.Hum, welcomed the presence of the Johns Hopkins University delegation. He introduced that UMSU is a university-accredited superior and has received four QS Stars stars from an international rating agency.
Prof. Arifin explained study programs and various institutions, including the astronomy observatory. The observatory’s existence is one of the highlights of UMSU, which has attracted the attention of the public and researchers from abroad.
“UMSU hopes to become a world-class university. Therefore, UMSU has a research strategy in economics, health, technology, government, and so on,” said Arifin.
Meanwhile, Dr. Oksana Carlson and Mr. Mickey Ye, who represents Johns Hopkins University, welcomed this visit enthusiastically. They consider UMSU as a university with the potential to collaborate.
“We, who focus on research and research, hope to collaborate on international conferences, visiting lecturers, joining research and research, conducting publications, staff exchanges, short courses to international credit transfer programs,” said Mr. Mickey.
