The Ribaksude Team of the Faculty of Engineering UMSU carried out community service through the Innovilage Work program in 2023. This activity was carried out in Tanjung Gusti Village, Galang District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra.
The service was carried out from December 21, 2023, to January 18, 2024, under the title “Harvest Techpro; Innovation of Rice Dryers and Grinders to Increase Farmer Yields through Digital Marketing.”
The Innovillage program is a Social Project competition with the theme “Empowering Young Sociopreneurs for National Development”.
The team was led by Muhammad Alwi Ripay Harahap and 2 team members, namely Gilang Kurniawan and Nurmawaddah, accompanied by Arya Rudi Nasution S.T., M.T.
Team Leader Alwi said that Tanjung Gusti Village is a village where the majority of its residents work as farmers, has approximately 33 hectares of land, and per hectare can produce 3-5 tons per harvest.
“In this village, they usually sell wet grain, not dry grain, because it requires drying and milling processes and does not have ineffective tools,” explained the Team leader.
Based on these conditions, three students came up with the idea to make a dryer and grinder easier for the community.
Then, the accompanying lecturer for the Ribaksude team from the Faculty of Engineering UMSU said that after participating twice, this was the first time his team had received funding for community service through the Innovilage program.
“Alhamdulillah, Mr. Affandi, S.T., M.T as WD 3 Engineering is very supportive of this activity,” said Arya.
W.D. 3 Affandi told the partners this was not the first and last activity.
“I will always remind the Team to facilitate whatever is needed by the partners of the Tanjung Gusti Village Farmer Group,” said Affandi when handing over tools to the community.
