Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara won the Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI) award for Scientific Oration with the Most Lecturers from One University. The Scientific Oration, filled by 100 lecturers from 44 disciplines, became one of a series of 67th UMSU milad. This award is the third time UMSU has broken a record.
Previously, the MURI record was awarded for Ring Solar Eclipse Observation on December 26, 2019, breaking the MURI Record for Making the Most Pantun in 2022.
The MURI certificate was given directly to the Rector, Prof.Dr.Agussani, MAP, after the record-breaking, which was held at the UMSU Campus on Jalan Kapten Mukhtar Basri, Medan, Tuesday (27/2).
The award certificate was handed over by the MURI Team representative, Triyono, SPt, after the record-breaking oration. “It is extraordinary; the scientific oration material presented is very diverse from the actual material,” Triyono said.
According to him, UMSU has the right to win the MURI Record because what is presented in scientific orations departs from actual topics.
Representing the MURI Record, Triyono expressed his appreciation because what was presented by UMSU academics was very interesting, with actual topics that could add insight and knowledge.
“Seeing the benefits of this activity, where this is a simulation of students, seeing our lecturers, they give speeches. Hopefully, it will be a lesson for all of us in disseminating information; accuracy, factuality, and integrity are needed,” Triyono said.
Then, the MURI representative advised that in the future, UMSU could conduct scientific orations in several languages to contribute to the world.
Meanwhile, UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, expressed his gratitude for the achievement of the award from MURI on UMSU’s 67th anniversary.
“Of course, UMSU is very grateful; this is interesting from the scientific oration of scientific disciplines and can be a reference in education. This is something different from the previous milad as a portrait of UMSU in the world of education, “said Prof. Agussani.
Prof. Agussani thanked the committee and lecturers who made the scientific oration a success; he hoped that this activity could answer challenges and become an example in the world of education.
