Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara is ready to collaborate with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in North Sumatra Province to make the campus a center for humanity and support the independent learning program, an independent campus.
“UMSU is ready to support PMI activities, including for the center for humanitarian activities, by utilizing all available potential,” said Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, when receiving an audience from the North Sumatra PMI management in the UMSU campus rectorate meeting room, Jl. Kapten Mukhtar Basri, Medan, Tuesday (6/9).
Vice Rector III, Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, and the deans of all UMSU attend the event. In addition, PMI North Sumatra’s Deputy Chairperson, Said Aldi Al Idrus, Head of the Blood Donor Unit, Dr. dr. Horas Rajagukguk Sp.B, Head of Headquarters, Ade Yudiansyah, and the Committee for the 77th Anniversary of PMI North Sumatra.
The Rector explained that UMSU has various supporting facilities for the center of humanitarian activities. In addition, there are sufficient human resources to help humanitarian activities.
UMSU has facilities to support humanitarian activities in hospitals, humanitarian buildings, and disaster management equipment which are grants from the Asian Muslim Charity Foundation (AMCF).
He explained that UMSU is committed to being active and being a solution to social and humanitarian problems. Therefore, students can also support PMI’s social and humanitarian activities.
Previously, the Deputy Chairman of PMI North Sumatra, Said Aldi Al Idrus, explained their appreciation for the support given by UMSU, especially regarding campus participation in enlivening PMI’s 77th Anniversary. Various competitions are held, including blood donation, leisure walks, and social services for the poor.
Said also welcomed the commitment of UMSU to be ready to cooperate. Activities with UMSU and PMI North Sumatra can be realized.
“The UMSU volunteer corps in the independent learning campus program can collaborate with PMI North Sumatra,” he said.
He also expressed his pride in developing the UMSU campus, which has been so advanced. In addition to supporting facilities and infrastructure, the record of student achievements is a source of pride for them.
