Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), Prof. Agussani, MAP, and the Mayor of Pematang Siantar, dr. Susanti Dewayani, SpA, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to Education and Teaching, Research and Development, and Community Service.
The signing was carried out at the UMSU Auditorium Jalan Mucktar Basri No. 3 Medan City, Tuesday (24/1). Witnessed by the Vice Reactor, Deans, Lecturers, and FISIP UMSU students
UMSU’s Rector, Prof. Agussani, on this occasion, conveyed that the education process cannot be carried out without networking with the government and industry. Therefore, UMSU is open to collaborating and building relationships for the future.
“Thank you, Mrs. Wali, this is a breakthrough. Hopefully, this collaboration will go well because UMSU also collaborates with the North Sumatra provincial government,” said Agusaani
The Mayor of Pematang Siantar, dr. Susanti, on this occasion, also gave a public lecture on ‘Women’s Political Role.’
At the public lecture, dr. Susanti conveyed this to FISIP UMSU students who also attended. According to him, the current political situation requires the critical role of millennials, especially women, in criticizing to maintain regional conduciveness.
Moreover, women’s participation is considered lacking in politics, and even though there is already a quota policy of 30 percent, it has not been fulfilled.
“In 2025, there will be a demographic bonus, meaning there will be more young people. Millennials are expected to create a resilient Indonesia in the future,” he said.
He also hopes that his presence at UMSU can inspire FISIP UMSU students to participate in politics.
